Capsulated Cork Stoppers

Where should t-top cork stoppers be used?

Capsulated, t-top or bar-top cork stoppers are intended to preserve spirits, liqueurs and fortified wines with a high alcohol content (superior to 18%), as well as high-end olive oils and vinegars.

Capsulated corks are, as the name suggests, composed of two main parts: the capsule and the cork. The possibilities for the capsules are nearly endless. With Lafitte Bartop, you’ll be able to find a myriad of materials and personalization options at your disposal. Contact our team to discover how we can work together to craft the perfect stopper for your brand.

As for the type of cork used, it will depend greatly on the type of spirit it’s intended for.

Why should you choose cork to protect your spirits?

Cork has crossed the borders of space and time as a symbol of quality and tradition. As an entirely natural product with a rich history, a cork stopper accentuates the craft and authenticity that goes into your spirits.

In addition to that, natural cork also has unique ageing properties: its cellular structure enables some interaction of oxygen with the contents of the bottle. This is a true testament to nature’s balance, as the oxygenation does not put the spirit at risk of being spoiled - on the contrary, it helps enhance its flavor.

Your packaging should communicate how luxurious and exclusive your spirits are. A capsulated cork stopper - especially when created in partnership with Lafitte Bartop -  allows you to combine noble materials and wide customisation options with a carbon neutral stopper.

What type of cork is best for your spirits?

01.

White Spirits

When it comes to white spirits, there’s often the concern that the cork can transfer color to the liquid. With the right treatment, this shall not be a problem - however, if you want to play it safe, go with a high-quality natural cork.

If your spirit is expecting a long shelf life, i.e., if you expect it to be consumed over a year and a half after bottling, we recommend a high-quality natural cork. Thanks to their smooth surface, without darker granules, this cork is less likely to transfer any color to the liquid.

If your spirit is likely to be consumed shortly after bottling - which means it won't need the ageing properties of natural cork - a micro-agglomerated cork will be perfectly suitable.

Do take into account that a surface treatment is always required in order for us to deliver the best product possible. The surface treatments applied to our corks are tailored to your product in order to guarantee perfect protection without any color transfer or any other undesirable effects.

02.

Dark Spirits

As dark spirits are less sensible, nearly any cork body is suited for your stopper. This gives you the leverage to save on the cork body and splurge on the capsule, if you wish to do so.

03.

Corks for Large Bottles

Depending on the diameter of the neck of the bottle, a natural cork body for your stopper may not be a viable solution. If the cork needs to be larger than the thickness of the planks harvested, a natural cork extracted from said planks will not be sufficient. In this case, a micro agglomerated cork body for your capsulated stopper might be the best option.

While we do think it’s important to offer some information on the available options, if you have any questions or are looking for guidance, the best course of action will be to get in touch with one of our experts, no strings attached.
